Melo Patisserie on 8th Ave.

Melo Patisserie on 8th Ave.

Melo Patisserie Mount Pleasant delivers French patisserie with sharp execution and a strong coffee program to match. Pastry chef William Tse brings training from Paris and North American fine dining kitchens, and it shows in every element on display. The cakes are structured and precise, from the chocolate mousse to the ricotta mango cheesecake. Financiers, croissants and cookies carry the same level of detail, with the banana hazelnut croissant drawing regular attention.

Coffee holds equal footing. Espresso drinks are prepared clean and consistent, with beans roasted locally for balance rather than punch. The iced latte is a standout, especially alongside the darker pastries, while the americano offers structure that lets the more delicate desserts take focus. Drinks are served with care but without flourish, meant to accompany the patisserie.

The room is bright and linear. Window seats offer a view onto Vancouver’s East 8th, with small tables built for two. Staff are quick to guide guests toward pairings or favourites, often suggesting something seasonal from the case with a cappuccino or pour over.
