The Arc
The Arc
Project Team:
Located at 89 Nelson Street at the gateway to downtown Vancouver, The Arc stands as a defining piece of next-generation Vancouverism. Developed by Concord Pacific with architectural design by Francl Architecture, this 28-storey mixed-use tower brings an iconic presence to the False Creek Central neighbourhood. Its sculptural profile shaped to evoke the movement of a waving flag anchors the skyline while reflecting the colours and textures of the West Coast.
The Arc’s engineering is equally noteworthy. Rising as two slender towers connected by a dramatic skybridge at the 20th level, the building incorporates Canada’s highest large-scale glass-bottom swimming pool, suspended roughly 200 feet above grade. Achieving this vision required extensive structural analysis and creative solutions to meet the extremely tight deformation tolerances of the acrylic pool panels. The skybridge itself is formed by paired concrete beams spanning more than 70 feet and supporting several residential floors above. Close coordination throughout the design and construction process enabled the project to be delivered on a fast-track schedule.
Beyond its architectural and engineering features, The Arc contributes to a growing, walkable community at False Creek Central an area defined by waterfront paths, cultural amenities, and proximity to transit. Its design and urban approach reflect a broader commitment to high-quality city living that is uniquely rooted in Vancouver’s identity.
